What are the improvements and highlights of CFS-C compared to CFS?
Both are identical in physical structure and appearance;
- CFS-C has modified the communication chip based on CFS, which can improve anti-interference capability during direct printing. (Note: Direct printing refers to connecting the printer directly to a computer or phone for printing via USB cable or wireless network (Wi-Fi Direct), rather than connecting through network devices like routers.)
- During filament replacement process, CFS is equipped with an internal cutter to cut off the old filament, then melts and extrudes the filament in the heat break through heating; CFS-C is equipped with a self-developed external cutter, which retracts the old filament from the extruder after technical parameter adjustment, cuts off the originally melted end to complete filament replacement, aiming to save the purging step and centralize waste collection.
Are CFS-C and CFS compatible with each other?
The communication chips between them are different, and there are differences in communication protocols with the printer. Therefore, CFS and CFS-C cannot be used compatibly at the same time.
Why is CFS-C composed of multiple parts?
CFS-C refers to a filament management system composed of main components including multi-color box, cutter buffer, communication module, filament break detector module and other related parts, with model designation CFS-C and named as CFS-C Filament Management System.

Does CFS-C support open source?
The open-source timeline is not yet determined. However, once the technology is open-sourced, community developers can adapt third-party printers based on official resources, bringing multi-color printing technology to benefit the 3D printing community. Please stay tuned for community updates.
The communication module serves as an intermediary between the printer and CFS-C using a USB adapter cable. Can USB adapter cables from other brands be used? What should be done if it breaks?
We recommend using the USB cable that comes with CFS-C. If damaged, please contact customer service for purchase.
How to connect the power supply?
We recommend using power adapter plugged into the CFS-C for normal operation.
If not printing multiple colors, what else can the CFS-C be used for?
CFS-C is actually an automated filament management system that can achieve automatic filament loading and unloading. Even when not printing in multiple colors, it can help you avoid the tedious process of changing filament. It also serves as a well-sealed dry box for storing filament, preserving filament long-term to prevent moisture absorption that could affect print quality.
- When the automatic refill function is enabled, CFS-C can automatically select filament of the same type but different color for continuation when filament runs out, requiring no manual operation.
- When the ignore-color automatic refill function is enabled, CFS-C can automatically select filament of the same type and similar color to continue printing when filament runs out, eliminating concerns about print time extension due to pausing from running out of filament.
What type of filament can the CFS-C print? Does it support third-party filaments?
- CFS-C is compatible with filament spools with a diameter of 197-202mm and width of 62-68mm. Paper spools can be used [edges need special treatment, untreated paper spools are not recommended].
- CFS-C is compatible with most rigid filaments such as PLA/PETG/ABS/ASA/PA-CF, but does not support printing with damp PVA/BVOH or TPU. Third-party filaments are supported, and CFS-C supports standard 1Kg filaments with 1.75mm diameter.
- CFS-C uses an external cutter for tip forming and relies on filament retraction testing. For the better experience, different types of filaments can be loaded in batches. It is recommended to test HyperPLA, CR PLA, and Silk PLA first.
- Third-party PLA filaments can also be used but require filament retraction calibration through the printer. For currently unsupported filaments, a popup window will appear when selecting filament types in the slicer and editing printer filament settings.
