Electrical Conductivity (EC) is a measure of the dissolved ionic particles (nutrient salts) in a solution. The higher the EC reading, the greater the concentration of nutrients. Plants thrive when supplied with an optimal concentration of nutrients. When preparing nutrients and checking nutrient solution EC, regularly calibrate EC measurement devices using Nutrifield EC calibration solution to ensure that EC readings are accurate. When EC is too low, plants suffer from nutrient deficiency and when EC is too high, plants suffer from nutrient toxicity. In both cases this negatively effects the plant and may compromise growth and yield.
