Let’s use our hands with this Wooden Touch and Match Sensory Board.
Comes complete with ten different texture discs with corresponding textures beneath.
Use your child’s sense of touch to match the textures in the disc to the one in the hole.

Now, ask them to close their eyes and see how sensitive their fingers are.

If they are having difficulty, try showing them.
Look away when you feel the board, and let the child know that you re going to use your fingers to do this work .

Then let them have another go!

Ask them what they can feel.
Can they feel rough, bumpy, smooth, fluffy?

Then you can ask them to relate that to one of their favourite items.
They may say it’s ‘fluffy’ like their cat, or rough like the concrete on their driveaway.

Once they’ve got the idea of ‘matching’ you can try mixing them up.
Then get your child to tell you whether the discs and texture underneath match or not.
