The iMac’s from 2012 – 2019 have adhesive foam tape that spans the perimeter of the screen, luckily it is not too hard cut through but the adhesive needs to be replaced whenever the screen has been removed, and unfortunately, the screen needs to be removed whenever repair work is needed to be done.

The bond on these adhesive strips is dependant on the cleaning work done prior to installation. Clean both the chassis and display where the adhesive will contact by removing the old adhesive and cleaning the residue with isopropyl alcohol. For the best bond, heat and clamp after application
