Ice Time: The Story of Hockey
This product is shipped via the most economical route and is estimated to be delivered within 2-3 weeks of your order leaving the warehouse.
This straightforward history of hockey emphasises the professional game and Canadian players. Much of the focus is on the development of the National Hockey League by the likes of Lord Stanley (hence, Stanley Cup). Plenty of clear period photos show the early stars of the game, smiling tightly to avoid revealing missing teeth. Also covered are players from the middle part of the last century, the rise and fall of the World Hockey Association stars, such as Wayne Gretzky, and the influx of international standouts. The Canadian Olympic women’s team earns a few pages in the section on the Olympics. The American win in the 1980 Olympics gets no mention at all. Although young baseball fans interested in the history of the game will never lack for reading materials, hockey fans have far fewer choices. Consequently, despite a Canadian focus, hockey enthusiasts will find this a welcome arrival. Todd Morning
