Day 1: Arrive in Yangon

“Mingalabar!” – Welcome to Myanmar! On arrival in Yangon, you will be met by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of your day at your leisure to settle in or explore your surrounds.

Day 2: Bagan Temple Tour (B)

This morning you will fly to Bagan and explore this ancient city, immersing yourself in its wonderful scenery and architecture. Bagan is renowned as the city of four million pagodas, and is one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia. Start the morning off with a traditional Burmese breakfast at a local tea house next to the Nyaung U Market. While you’re there, make sure to get some photos of this vibrant market and mingle with the local Myanmar people. After breakfast, get your camera ready as you will visit some amazing sites such as Shwe-Zi-Gon Pagoda, Hti-Lo-Min-Lo Temple and Ananda Temple, known locally as the architectural masterpiece of a millennium. Next visit the tallest building in Bagan, That-Byin-Nyu Temple; before heading off to Dhamma-Yan-Gyi Temple, renowned for its intricate brickwork. Finish this spectacular day off at the top of Shwe-San-Daw Pagoda for a superb sunset

Day 3: Bagan Village Tour (B)

Bagan is not only famous for its abundance of ancient temples, but also for its exquisite handicrafts. Today you will watch the intricate production of quality lacquer ware. Some of the finest are flexible, and made around bamboo and twisted horse hair. Next, you’ll learn about the making of Bagan’s most famous food, ‘Pone Yay Gyi’ at a local shop. You will learn the recipe for this famous black paste from the raw soybeans through to the finished product. Finally, visit the peaceful Taung Bi Village to meet some locals. After lunch at the local restaurant, arrive back at the hotel to spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay (B)

After breakfast today, enjoy a private car ride to Mandalay through local villages and stunning scenery. Upon arrival, relax at the hotel until it’s time to head to the famous U Bein Bridge for a stunning sunset view. The U Bein Bridge is 1.2 kilometers long, and was built around the 1850s. It is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world. After this beautiful sunset view, you will be taken to a local restaurant for dinner before heading back to your hotel.

Day 5: Mandalay – Amarapura – Sagaing – Inwa (B)

Today you will have the exciting opportunity to observe monks worshiping and enjoying their daily meals at Mahar Gandar Yone Monastery. After this fascinating stop, you will begin your journey to Sagaing, stopping at the Silk Weaving Centre on the way. There you will visit Kaung-Mhu-Daw Pagoda, an enormous dome shaped pagoda, before taking in the breathtaking view of the Irrawaddy River from Sagaing Hills, where many Buddhist monasteries are situated. You will also see U Min Thonze Pagoda, one of the more distinctive complexes in the region. Then we travel to Inwa where you will take a pony cart to visit the 27-metre-high Masonry Watch Tower Nan Myint, also known as the “Leaning Tower of Inwa”. Finally visit the Bagaya Monastery built with 276 teak pillars, and observe a traditional Burmese Alms bowls workshop, before heading back to your hotel for a much deserved rest.

Day 6: Inwa – Heho – Inle Lake (B)

After breakfast this morning you will fly to Heho, to take a scenic drive to the village of NyaungShwe, the gateway to the magnificent Inle Lake. Once you arrive, the rest of the day is yours to explore Inle Lake at your leisure. Why not hire a bike and ride through the villages where you will pass buffalo in the water and farmers in the fields? Feeling tired? Why not visit one of the day spas or massage parlours?

Day 7: Inle Lake – Indein (B)

Today you will get to see Inle Lake by boat. This boat tour will offer an excellent opportunity to observe Myanmar rural life in the Floating Villages, such as Pouk Par and Khar Taw.
A visit to these villages provides an insight into how the locals on the lake live. You will witness lotus and silk weaving, boat making and cheroot making; as well as the incredibly unique One- Leg Rower Fisherman- truly a sight to behold. During this boat ride, you will get to see the Phaung-Daw-Oo Pagoda, the most important symbol of religion of Shan State; as well as the beautiful wooden monastery Nga-Phe-Chaung. After lunch, you will proceed to Indein where you will then take a short trek to Indein Pagoda. On the way, enjoy the serene atmosphere as you wander through artfully scattered 8th century Pagodas in ruins covered by trees and bushes. Finally visit the Intha people, members of a Tibeto-Burman tribe living on the banks of Inle Lake.

Day 8: Inle Lake (B)

Today is yours to explore at your leisure. Why not try some of the excellent cuisine Inle Lake is known for such as Htamin Jin, or take another boat ride to experience more of the unique scenery that Inle Lake has to offer.

Day 9: Inle Lake -Yangon (B)

After breakfast this morning, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Yangon. Upon arrival and after refreshments at your hotel, your day of sightseeing will begin with a walk through the busy city center before visiting some famous landmarks. Visit Karaweik Hall and Royal Lake for some beautiful photos, then explore Bogyoke Market, renowned as the best place for shopping in the country! Finally enjoy the sunset at ShweDaGon Pagoda, one of the most spectacular monuments in Myanmar.

Day 10: Yangon – Australia (B)

Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Australia, filled with fantastic memories of your trip.
