This book is a practical work book to help people who run enterprises of any size, any type and any industry in both the `for profit’ and `not for profit’

sectors.

It is written in a conversational style and not as an academic treatise or technical work. It has a lot of stories and is a bit like a biography to

stimulate interest and to be quite different to the usual business book.

It comprises some 440 pages over 20 chapters, and has some 68 self-assessment tools, samples and templates (all downloadable for free from

www.fightingforenterprisesuccess.com . The samples show what the author’s own business uses and the templates are intended to be

contextualised and completed to help people in their own enterprises.

Each chapter has a main contents section, with two subsections. One subsection (entitled `Gazing at Your Enterprise Through the Eye of the

Tiger….’) is for reflection, with some self-assessment tools and exercises working with the samples and templates in the appendices. The third

subsection (entitled `Leading on L Plates’) at the end of each chapter contains some personal stories about what the author has learnt about

leadership over the years (the good, the bad and the ugly!).

Chapter outlines for the book are as follows:

o Enterprise success starts with the leader having high personal motivation for the enterprise to become worlds best

o An enterprise leader needs a candid self-appraisal about physical, emotional, spiritual or inner well-being, and relational issues

o An enterprise needs to build an Enterprise Excellence System and be systems driven

o The right business model is needed to facilitate enterprise success

o An inspirational vision of the preferred future for the enterprise, coming from the enterprise leader and embraced by everyone, is fundamental

o Any enterprise must have unshakeable values which impact all stakeholders, acting like superglue

o Any enterprise must be principle-centric and conduct itself according to a set of imperative principles

o There must be an overall driving purpose which goes well beyond technical acumen to impact people

o Highly effective leadership is an absolute must for enterprise success

o A dynamic, high performing team is also an absolute must, with team building being an imperative

o Unrivalled customer-centricity will result in raving fans for enterprise success

o On the road less travelled, impactful entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation will make the journey worthwhile

o There are abundant new business opportunities but we need to dive deep

o A masterful strategy is directive of enterprise success

o Incisive planning is critically important, just like building pyramids

o Responsible pricing and financial vigilance are so much better than counting beans

o Just like leaving footprints in the sand, leaving a valuable legacy from a life of significance is so much better and more rewarding than an ocean

full of successes, and

o Fighting for enterprise success is on, but the real question is: are we up to the challenge?
