Collection of five comedies starring Adam Sandler. In ‘Big Daddy’ (1999) Sonny Koufax (Sandler) is a 32-year-old loser who refuses to take responsibility for his life and spends his days watching television in his pyjamas. The day after his girlfriend Vanessa (Kristy Swanson) dumps him, five-year-old Julian (Cole and Dylan Sprouse) arrives at his house, claiming to be the son of his recently departed flatmate. Sonny then mistakenly decides that adopting Julian will impress Vanessa, only to discover that there is more to parenting than meets the eye. In ‘Click’ (2006) Michael Newman (Sandler) is married to the beautiful Donna (Kate Beckinsale) with two children Ben (Joseph Castanon) and Samantha (Tatum McCann), but he doesn’t get to see them much because he’s putting in long hours at his architectural firm in the hope that his ungrateful boss (David Hasselhoff) will one day recognise his invaluable contribution and make him a partner. When a frustrating bout with the television remote control leads the overworked husband and father to a nearby store, Bed, Bath & Beyond, in search of a universal remote with the power to control all of his electronic devices, a curious peek into the back room leads Michael into the company of eccentric employee and talented inventor Morty (Christopher Walken). It seems that Morty has created a device that will not only allow Michael complete control over his television and stereo, but also his entire life. In ’50 First Dates’ (2004) Drew Barrymore stars as Lucy Whitmore, a beautiful woman suffering from acute short-term memory loss. After a car accident several months before, she has been left with a rare brain condition that causes her memory to be totally erased every night when she goes to sleep. Sandler plays Henry Roth, a vet who works at the aquarium in the Hawaiian resort where Lucy is living a quiet life with her over-protective father (Blake Clark) and goofy brother (Sean Astin). Henry usually spends his summers seducing a string of female tourists that he’ll never see again, but when he meets Lucy he realises he’s found something special, and resolves to give up his promiscuous, non-committal lifestyle. The only problem is, when he meets her again the next day, she doesn’t remember who he is. In ‘Mr Deeds’ (2002), an updating of the 1936 Frank Capra classic ‘Mr Deeds Goes to Town’, Sandler takes on the Gary Cooper role of small town poet and pizzeria owner Longfellow Deeds, who inherits $40 billion from his uncle and sets off for New York to take over his new business empire, bringing his small town values with him. Television reporter Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) poses as an innocent small town girl in order to dig up any dirt on him, but despite her best efforts, finds him to be nothing other than a gentleman, and even falls for him. Finally, in ‘Anger Management’ (2003), Sandler stars as a man who unwittingly discovers he has a lot of pent-up anger. Dave Buznick (Sandler) is ordered to undergo a course of anger management therapy after he is accused of air rage. The course is run by Dr Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson) who brings together a disparate group of people for his sessions; from bi-s**ual porn stars through to an ex-con. However, Buddy has his own issues and these come to light when he insists on moving in with Dave for a spell of intensive therapy; both Dave and Buddy manage to bring out the worst in each other and under the same roof means there are a lot of sparks flying.
