Kogan Technologies going paperless

Posted: 26 Sep 2008

The issue of receiving a physical warranty card with your products came up last week on the blog. Rob pointed it out first on the blog, and then on his own site. It really got me thinking about the paperless office.

The Kogan Technologies team have always tried to minimise the paper we use. First of all, we've found running a paperless office has reduced our operational costs, meaning we can sell LCD TVs, GPS units, and digital photo frames for even cheaper.

Secondly, it's a great way to help the environment. We're all wired to our computers pretty much all day, so why print things unnecessarily?

For those who are wondering about their warranty cards, they are included in the e-mail with the tax invoice.

Our next push towards minimising paper wastage is to stop shipping printed manuals with our product. We will be posting all the manuals to www.kogan.com.au/support/. We've found that all of our products are easy to use, and people rarely look at the manual. For the odd occasions when you need it, it will be available in an easily printed format online. This also allows us to quickly and promptly make any changes to the manuals.

What do you think? I'm really keen to get your opinion on this. Are you happy with electronic manuals going forward?
