Posted: 16 Oct 2014

What’s a mummy’s favourite type of music? - Wrap!

Why aren’t there more famous skeletons? - They’re a bunch of nobodies!

These scarily bad jokes are just the beginning… Halloween is coming!

Many Australians haven’t yet embraced the American holiday - but here at, we think it’s time. Halloween is the perfect excuse for kids and adults to don their creepiest costumes, play some pranks and enjoy some tasty treats!

These 5 deliciously scary treats (along with optional tricks!) are easy to make, taste amazing and are sure to entice non-believers everywhere to find their inner ghoul...

Ugly Witch Ice Creams

Witches come in all shapes and sizes… These ones are small, but watch out - they’ll put you under a spell that’ll make you devour ice cream in seconds!

Using the Kogan 2L Ice Cream Maker, create your own ice cream by following the included recipes and adding your own flavours and lollies. Throw in some chocolate frogs, gummi worms or black cat lollies for extra magic.

When the ice cream is ready, take a nice, round scoop and turn it into a witch with an ice cream cone hat and chocolate chip face.

Trick: Fill the cone with raspberry sauce before placing atop the ice cream, so the witches start bleeding when eaten...

Petrifying Pumpkin Pies

Pumpkins are iconically Halloween, and pumpkin pie is a true American favourite. Try out this classic dish in the easiest way, using the Kogan Deep Dish Pie Maker.

Simply buy or make sheets of puff pastry and cut to size with the included pastry cutter. Place the sheets in the bases of the four pie moulds. Fill each mould with pumpkin pie filling (recipe included in Pie Maker Manual), and close the lid. Soon you’ll be enjoying delicious, individually sized pumpkin pies.

Serve warm or cold.

Trick: Make a hole in the middle of each pie, place a plastic spider or centipede in the hole, then hide with a dollop of cream or ice cream...

Creepy Crawly Pizzas

What’s your favourite pizza topping? Ham? Cheese? How about spiders??

To make this creepy-looking pizza, buy or make a pizza base, then cover with napoli sauce and lots of cheese.

For the final touch, create creepy crawlies of all shapes and sizes using salami, olives, capsicum or anything else you like!

Cook the pizza quickly and easily in the Kogan TastyChef Stone Coated Cooker.

Trick: Hide uncooked instant noodles underneath the cheese, so when your guests bite into the pizza, it feels like they’re biting into crunchy spider legs...

Mummified Hot Dogs

What’s dead, wrapped in bandages and tastes delicious? A mummified hot dog, of course!

Take a bunch of frankfurter sausages and some premade dough (make it yourself or buy ready-made sheets of puff pastry). Cut the dough or pastry into thin strips and wrap these around the frankfurters to create a bandaged effect.

Make sure you leave room for the eyes! Bake in the oven for about 10 - 15 minutes or, for ease, pop them in the Kogan Multi Function Cooker and program it so your food will be ready exactly when you want it!

When the hot dogs are cooked, dot some mustard on as eyes.

Trick: Serve the mummies in a pool of bloody tomato sauce...

Pumpkin Bread

This Halloween, give your neighbours the ultimate treat, as the heavenly smell of warm pumpkin bread wafts down the street.

The easiest way to create your own homemade, freshly baked pumpkin bread is to check out our recipe, provided with the Kogan Stainless Steel Bread Maker. Using ingredients like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and, of course, pumpkin, this tasty mixture can be prepared in just a few minutes.

Place the mixture in the Kogan Stainless Steel Bread Maker and press start. Then wait for the mouthwateringly delicious scents to make their way to your nose!

Trick: Once baked, turn the loaf of bread upside down, take a drinking straw, and stick it into the base of the bread, making long holes up into the middle of the loaf. Then get some small gummi worms and feed them up the holes with the help of the straw.

When the loaf is cut, the worms can be seen crawling through the bread!
